Meet the Team
Norm Vogel (Bowser and Sophie) is the inspiration for Clare's House.
When his loving partner and pets passed away, my uncle Norm Vogel was determined not to live the rest of his life without furry kids. So he rescued two puppies, Bowser and Sophie. They were strong, full of life, and had such long and happy years ahead of them…
As they enjoyed each other, my most wonderful Uncle Norm wondered who would take care of them when he was gone. It was from this inspiration that Clare’s House was born.
Clare’s House was named after my mother, Clare Ann McGinty, an animal lover herself who lost her battle with lung cancer in 2009. Clare's House is a non-profit (501C,) volunteer-run, self-funded organization, with your help and support we are making Clare’s House a reality and making a big difference in our community. As the story goes, Bowser and Sophie also rescued Uncle Norm. At 90 years-young, he and the “kids” have one of the strongest family bonds I have ever seen.
Adele Brown (Eleanor "Rigby") is in her next phase of life...being a professional volunteer. And what better way to volunteer but to help family pets stay in their homes with their loving owners. Adele is our event co-ordinator. If you need something handled such as our Annual Golf Tournament, Adele is the one who will make it happen! Her creativity is refreshing and amazing. Before retiring she was a dance instructor. She has also been a community leader in her church. She has has two daughters, two son-in-laws and three grandchildren. We are so fortunate to have her talents and dedication as part of our board.
Terry Economos (Daisy) is thankful to be a part of Clare's House and pledges to do everything she can to make this dream a reality. Many loves of her life have crossed the rainbow bridge (Sea Biscuit, Reilly, Kitten, Jerome, Zippy, Brecken, Braye and the love of her life, Roxie.) Daisy is the newest and special little girl that has brought a whole neighborhood together with her welcome and playful demeanor. If humans could have a dog's heart! Terry in her professional life grew up at Maritz in St. Louis were she began her career as a Travel Director. She had a successful 30 year career in the Maritz Travel and Motivation Companies. She obtained her MBA in Marketing and her CMP while at Maritz. She also is MSI Certified with a Green Belt. Terry was a General Manager at a multi-million dollar successful IHG property for over 8 years prior to semi-retiring to devote her time to Clare's House (501c3) and working with the Clare's House team. Thank you Uncle Norm for giving me the inspiration for Clare's House.
Kim Gee (Amelia and Elizabeth) is considered more of a crazy cat lady but also loves all the dogs in her life. She is the proud “Grammy” of her grand puppy Remington (and Shelby who has since passed and misses every day), grand kitties Edie, Kona, Cali and Rudy, and most importantly her two-legged grandson Sawyer. Kim has been purchasing the personalized dog biscuits for all her dog friends at Christmas for over 20 years. Kim is an Administrative Assistant at SSM Health St. Mary’s Hospital. She hopes to see the tribute funds grow in support of Clare’s House.
Karen Newberry (Aunt to Bogie and Pepper) has been a pet owner from childhood, befriending animals of all types from turtles and hamsters to parakeets and dogs. Professionally, Karen has served 45 years as an employee at Maritz Travel, gaining valuable experience that will blend well with the mission of Clare’s House. Karen retired in March, 2020 and has more time to pursue her passion of working with animals. She is assisting with plans to provide services to pet owners needing the promise of a nurturing environment for their pets once they can no longer provide that for them.
Kaki Murphy (Rosie) is a life long dog lover. Prior to retirement, she spent 35 years in the packaging distribution industry. She developed the St Louis market and managed a distribution center for over 25 years. Kaki and Terry have been friends for over 30 years and Kaki is excited to help Terry achieve her dream of bringing Clare's House to life.
Matt Podjeski (Sally) is a fellow pet enthusiast who agrees life is better with a furry friend at your side. His newest family member, Sally, and his 3 previous buddies were rescues. He is quoted as saying rescue is his favorite breed. Matt also serves on the Board of Directors for Canterbury Enterprises, an organization providing people with physical and cognitive challenges with meaningful employment in a safe and welcoming workplace. His prior volunteer experience includes serving on the Board of Directors for Room at the Inn, a non-profit providing emergency and stabilization services to families experiencing homelessness and as a volunteer for the Women’s Safe House. Matt is a proud graduate of the University of Missouri-Columbia, where he obtained a degree in Counseling Psychology, and from Webster University, where he graduated with a masters degree in Human Resources Development. Matt has enjoyed several years as an HR Business Consultant with Magellan Healthcare, and prior to Magellan he worked in a similar capacity at St. Louis Children’s Hospital and BJC’s Progress West and St. Charles Health Centers.
